Info: The Website

The history of the site and its different names.

Introduction

The website began in 1999 on my own domains. Before that, I had a homepage hosted by an Internet service provider. The site was later known as emsai.net and then skuldwyrm.no.

It has never been only one kind of site. It has been a homepage, a software archive, a music page, a journal, a place for experiments, and a way to share projects that did not fit neatly into a normal job description.

Today, skuldwyrm.no is the current home for my articles, music, software, games, tools and other projects and services.

Site history

Before 1999
I had a homepage hosted by an Internet service provider. This came before the site moved to my own domains.
1999
The website was created on my own domain names.
1990s
The site and related pages included the Msi Galactica Star Wars fan site, with material about the Sith, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, fan fiction and related subjects.
2000s
The site developed into a home for Msi Software, software releases, technical writing, music and other experiments.
2006
The site included a journal covering technology, games and other subjects.
2010-2013
I published community articles on a Game Developer website, formerly known as Gamasutra. The subjects included DRM and ownership, probability systems, login security, stereoscopic 3D, dialogue, frame timing, Star Wars: The Old Republic and media coverage around Beyond: Two Souls.
2014
I created the name Skuldwyrm.
2015
The domain name changed from emsai.net to skuldwyrm.no. The name Skuldwyrm was also officially registered when the legal name change was approved.
2016
A new version of the website was launched.
2026
The website is being redesigned again. This version is intended to gather the different parts of my creative and less creative work under one identity, making everything easier to explore without hiding the older work. I keep finding new things in old archives, including more unreleased music, so the site is also a way to make sure that nothing is lost. It is as much for my own sanity as it is for other people's enjoyment.
